Pastor Travis Muse loves his Asbury Family. While growing up in Ada, Pastor Travis recalls many wonderful memories as his home church youth group participated in numerous Asbury youth activities including mission trips, spring break trips and youth camps. Those early connections helped him feel right at home when he started serving as Asbury’s 39th pastor in 2015. Returning to Ada, Travis brings with him his amazing wife and ministry partner, Ginny and three remarkable children: John David, Michael and Anna Beth.

Travis graduated from Ada High School in 1989 and attended East Central University where he majored in Accounting in 1993. Feeling the call into ministry, Travis took a youth director position in Pauls Valley where served for three years. Recognizing the call to ordained ministry, Travis moved to Wilmore, Kentucky and worked on his theological studies at Asbury Theological Seminary. He met his future wife, Ginny, on the first day of class; Ginny and Travis married in 1998 and they graduated together with a Masters in Divinity in 2000.

Travis’ first appointment took him to Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City where he served 6 years as the Minister for Young Adults. He and Ginny would pack up and return to Asbury were Travis worked on a Doctorate in Ministry which he completed in 2009. The family returned to Oklahoma as Travis was appointed to Marlow and later Frederick, Oklahoma before the family moved to Ada.

Travis’ root grow deep in the Ada heritage as his great-grandparents helped to shape the community through their construction business. When given the opportunity to minister as Asbury, Travis could not think of a better place to reinvest himself and to help shape the spiritual landscape for so many seeking the grace of God.

"The hand of God has a remarkable way of twisting and turning our journey. While I always want to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, my heart yearned to return to Ada. When given the opportunity to serve the Lord at Asbury, I would have never imagined how this church would change my focus and heart for people. Asbury serves a diverse membership and community. We have recovering addicts sitting next to business professionals. You can see men and women who are working on their GED serving beside college professors at our food pantry giving away free groceries to families who can barely afford to pay their rent or utilities. To me, that represents a small part of the family of God understanding the call to grow and serve side by side.”
