A Special Church for

Special People — Like You!

Finding a good church home is one of the most important things that one can do. Yet, it is one of the most difficult too.

So how does one go about finding just the right one?

It is like shopping for that new suit or dress, you do not know if it is the right one for you until you try it on.

That is our invitation to you.

We welcome you to spend time with us....to "try us on".

Asbury United Methodist Church is a busy and vibrant church and offers something for everyone.

We look forward to personally getting to know you and hope that with each visit Asbury feels more and more like the right fit for you!

At Asbury United Methodist Church, we are a group of people...

  •  Where You Can Be Yourself
    • No masks — No pious faces, Just a group of ordinary people discovering the joy of Christian living.
  •  Where You Can Grow
    • And experience the love and power of God in your life.
  •  Where Your Family Counts
    • Our goal is to strengthen marriages and existing families and to be a family to one another.
    • We place special emphasis on engaging men, women, and children in three life-building processes:

CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF GOD

Join us in being committed to:

  •  Exalting God
  •  Experiencing God in our life
  •  Exposing others to God's greatness

CULTIVATING THE POWER OF GOD

Join us in being committed to:

  •  Building strong people
  •  Building solid families
  •  Building a caring community

COMMUNICATING THE LOVE OF GOD

Join us in being committed to communicating this:

  •  To our families
  •  To the people of Ada and the surrounding community
  •  To a needy world

There are great days ahead for us of the Asbury United Methodist Church. Come and experience a fresh touch of God's love for you!

TOGETHER — WE GROW

Beliefs

Our beliefs are founded and rooted in Scripture and informed by experience, reason, and tradition. Important aspects of our faith include:

Scripture — Scripture contains all things necessary for our faith and is fully reliable.

The Trinity — We believe that there is one God that is infinite in power, wisdom, and goodness and that in the unity of this Godhead there are three persons of one substance, power, and eternity — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ — The Bible teaches us that Jesus Christ was both fully God and fully human. He was crucified to reconcile us to God and so that we could have forgiveness of our sins. He rose again from the dead bodily and ascended into heaven and remains there until he returns to judge all persons at the last day.

Salvation — The Bible teaches that salvation is by grace through faith. It is a gift given by God to all who put their faith in Christ

The Sacraments — Baptism marks our entry into the household of faith. It is a sign of God's love for us and of our commitment to God. The Lord's Supper is a reminder of God's redemption through Christ and a celebration of His presence with us. In our tradition, the Lord's Table is open to all persons of faith regardless of their denominational affiliation.

Membership — Membership in the United Methodist Church is gained through one of two ways:

Profession of Faith — If you have never been a member of a church, membership would be attained by publicly professing your faith in Christ and receiving baptism.

Transfer of Membership — If you are or have been a member of another United Methodist Church or a church of another Christian denomination, membership would be attained simply by a transfer of membership.
